INTERVIEW
What brought you to One Life?
I actually was looking for a new way to lose my weight. I had recently seen a nutritionist and ended up gaining weight, so I knew it was time for something better. I found One Life from a few searches on the Internet and I called and made an appointment.
How much weight did you lose?
My goal was to lose 15 pounds but I actually lowered my goal while doing the diet and I am currently 5 lbs below my goal - total lost 20 pounds, which took me a few short months.
Have you always struggled with your weight?
I have been on several other diets in my lifetime. Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers - you name it. I have lost my baby weight 3 times and have always used a “fad” diet to lose it. None of them were as easy or successful for me as with One Life. It's like voodoo magic how fast and easy the weight came off. I lost 20 pounds and I did not even think I had that much weight to lose. And not a single time did I ever feel miserable or that I was missing out.
What has Dr. Haynes and One Life taught you about losing weight?
I learned that there is a science to weight loss. One of the biggest take aways was my portion sizes. I was eating way more than I thought. I was eye-balling 3oz and it was really 6oz. Another secret weapon I now use is protein. If I have had a heavy weekend, I reset with a few protein days. I even went on vacation for several weeks and when I came back I was only a few pounds up. Knowing what I know now, I can never see how I could gain my weight back again.
One Life also taught me not to use working out as a means to lose weight. Workouts should be a way to enjoy life. In the past to lose weight, I was religious about doing the Insanity workouts. I would kill myself at 5am every day working out like a maniac, eat a grapefruit and then starve until lunch. One Life has given me back the luxury to workout for fun. I dance, I surf or run - whatever I feel like doing because that is what I want to do. It is not a chore anymore that I stress about.
How easy was it to implement One Life into your daily life?
It was so simple. I just removed the bad foods from my house. Starches are my weakness and I just do not eat them anymore. It's weird to think that I don’t eat rice anymore. I have changed my perception about the bad foods I do not want to it. If I want to have it - I won’t deprive myself - I will just count it, but it is not a habit anymore.
Has One Life changed the perception of yourself?
I am thinner now than I was at 16 - certainly way under what I was before I had babies. It is such a great feeling. It makes much easier and less stressful when you are not always thinking about dieting or trying to lose weight. Shopping is much more fun now. I also don't have to dress and cover myself up and that feels really great.
Women in general are always talking about which diet they trying out. It is usually the main conversation at lunch. One Life has taken the stress out of the word and meaning of “diet” for me. They are a resource I can lean on when I have questions or concerns and they keep me accountable.
What would you say about the One Life Staff?
They are all super supportive, friendly and open. Everyone is very approachable and they understand the impact life can have on a diet. Everyone seems to have their own story as well. It is an environment that fosters openness.
What would you say to someone thinking about joining One Life?
I’ve referred about 10 people already. Just at a party last night, I was telling people that One Life is the simplest and best thing you can do for yourself. You must have the knowledge and accountability to stick with it and they provide just that. You have to go each week because you want to and if you do you will see results fast.
